I have seen many things in my career as a photojournalist & professional photographer. I have seen moments that filled me with joy and moments that made me want to weep with sadness.
Through them all one thing has remained true: A photograph can bring a moment alive for those who see it. More than radio, video or any other medium, a photograph can transport you through time and space into the very heart of a moment.
For nearly 20 years, I have worked professionally as a photojournalist, wedding and portrait photographer. Beginning as photo-editor and contributing writer for six years at the Independence Daily Reporter. I continued my photography career in central Florida, working as a freelance and studio photographer for five years. Returning to my home in Kansas for 7 years, I worked as a photojournalist, New Media Director & IT Manager for the Harris Group. Now as a proud member of Washington State University, I continue pursuing my photographic visions in Eastern Washington.
My corporate work has included Cessna Aircraft Company and Cisco Systems, Inc. My editorial work has been published across the country including: The New York Times, USA Today,
ESPN, Automobile Magazine, The Washington Post, The Seattle Times, Salt Lake Tribune, The Boston Globe, and many others.
I continue to freelance for editorial publications including the The New York Times, but my focus is mainly on art, wedding and
portrait photography. Last year, I completed my first book: The Sound of Silence and it’s accompanying art shows. It was a year-long process but is now available in stores and on amazon.com.
My current projects include: Worlds Within Worlds, a study of extreme macro & microscope photography; Mountain & Valley, a study of life and death through time lapse, scanography & photo mosaics; Enchanting Dreams, involving scenic photography by starlight. And most importantly; photographing my beautiful new home in Washington State.
